It Is Likely That Something Bad Is Going On

Posted in: Just For Fun, Tech Humor, Tech Support Tips, Technology Related Stories

Today while trying to install Ubuntu 7.10 on my Desktop, I received this very humorous error, one which I had never seen before.  Apparently this error has something to do with some driver problems associated with ATI graphics cards (the x1300 in my case).  The only solution that I have found so far is to install Ubuntu using the alternate cd image that can be downloaded here.  The one downside to this is you will lose the ability to install using the pretty GUI, as the alternate CD is a text based installer.  Hopefully it works.  I’ll leave an update once I find out.

 UPDATE
Using the alternate cd image and this guide, I was able to get Ubuntu installed and running.  This was deffinitely unexpected seeing as nothing I ever try when it comes to installing or operating Linux EVER works.  Not everything worked correctly however.  If you’re planning on using Compiz/Beryl or any other desktop effects…good luck.  It may be a long, painful road to success (if you ever get there).  If you don’t curse now, you probably will be by the time you’re done!
