I was reading through some technology news tonight and I stumbled across an interesting piece of FREE software called “Spiceworks“. Basically, Spiceworks is an all inclusive network management software suite that will allow you to do everything from taking inventory of your current computer hardware, to troubleshooting network issues. The software is ad supported and sponsored by a variety of tech based companies, however it does not look as though the ads would be very invasive. Spiceworks has included features such as a help desk which your users can submit support tickets to, inventory tracking and even ways to monitor certain parts of your network for problems (this is especially nice because it reduces the need for you to constantly check everything manually). Having worked for an I.T. department for the past couple of months, I can tell you that software like this has great potential, both to reduce paperwork and reduce support headaches!
