While browsing through Facebook this evening, I noticed a feature that has been around for a while now, but has recently been revamped. Facebook Flyers. Having a strong interest in online advertising methods, I was drawn to this and did a little further investigation. Facebook, through their new platform “Flyers Pro”, allows its users to post paid for ads across their own network or all networks for a pre-determined cost per impression. For example, running an ad for one day at 2,500 impressions will cost you a mere $5. For those of you not familiar with the term impressions, this simply means the number of times the flyer is displayed. Users can have their flyer displayed for up to thirty days at a time, however this would be much more costly. The platform also allows for users to select demographic information for which the flyers will be run, such as running the flyers for only males or females as well as age range. This is a nice way to focus your advertising. For school clubs and groups this is a great way to get the word out and increase your attendance. Another interesting use would be to advertise parties in order to get more attendees which would yield more profit if you’re charging an entrance fee. There are tons of possibilities with this and it will definitely be interesting to see how it is taken advantage of.
