Free lyrics, free of spyware

Over the past couple of years, i’m sure almost everyone has had a run in with spyware while trying to do a simple search for free lyrics online.  There are plenty of websites out there that take advantage of the fact that newer computer users won’t be aware of the dangers of the web and offer them free lyrics, that are not so free.  With this post, I hope to give you readers a way of getting all the free lyrics you want, without having to deal with the hassles of spyware and popups.

Probably the best solution that I can think of for free lyrics is a very small plugin for Windows Media Player and Winamp, which is appropriately called lyrics plugin.  This little plugin works amazingly well and is incredibly easy to install.  Simply follow the link above to the website, click the “Download Now” link for whichever player you use and select “Run” when prompted by the downloader.   The download should complete within seconds and if you’re prompted to accept the publisher, just click “Run” again.   A second window will appear asking you to select an installation path which can usually be left as the default.  After selecting the path, hit “Install”.  Once the plugin has installed, you will be able to open either Windows Media Player or Winamp and the free lyrics for whichever song you are currently playing will be downloaded and displayed right on the screen for you!  This not only eliminates the time wasted trying to find safe free lyrics online, but it also gives you the added bonus of downloading them automatically each time a new song is played.

A second safe solution for finding free lyrics is the website www.songmeanings.net.  Not only does this website have tons of lyrics for most artists and bands out there, but they also include a comment area where users can list what they think a given song means.  This is a great site for free lyrics and it is very easy to navigate.

If neither of these sites suite you for finding free lyrics, I have also had success with the site lyrics.astraweb.com.  You may still run into some ads on this site, but they should not be too invasive.

These are three great solutions for finding free lyrics if you do not want to deal with the pain and heartaches of having to delete tons of spyware after your search.
